Daytona's Beautiful Beach
Daytona's Beautiful Beach
It's over 500 feet wide at low tide. Enjoy over twenty-three miles of beach, much of which you can cruise in your car. Beach access is free for pedestrians. There is modest access fee for vehicles to drive on the beach. Most of the hotels and motels hosting Spring Break students are located directly on the beach or right across the street from the beach. While there is plenty to see and do off the beach, most Spring Breakers like to get as much beach time as possible. Take a long walk along the shores of the Atlantic Ocean or go for a run. Check out the promotional booths and pick up some freebies. Do a little body surfing, or skip along the waves on a raft, surfboard or jet ski. Take a sightseeing shoreline cruise or venture offshore on a deep sea fishing charter boat and catch some dinner.
Daytona Beach Opens Pedestrian-Friendly Beach Zone
A one-mile zone of vehicle-free beach in front of Daytona Beach's historic Boardwalk, Main St. Pier and Bandshell opened March 1, giving visitors the option of enjoying the beach in a family-friendly area. The area stretches from U.S. 92 (International Speedway Blvd.) to Seabreeze Blvd. (S.R. 430). To accommodate the new zone, a 1,500-space parking garage is now open. Parking fees are $1 per half-hour and a maximum of $5 per day.
Beachgoers can take a free beach tram to and from the Ocean Center Parking Garage to several designated stops along the beach. Beach driving, a Daytona Beach tradition, remains in effect on 16 of the 23 miles north and south of the new zone.
